EDUCATION IN RUSSIA
All Russian children have the right to education. There are different types of schools in Russia. We have private and state schools. In private schools people pay money for their education. And there are secondary schools, lyceums, grammar schools, specialized schools and centres of education. Children can choose any of these schools according to their abilities. Education in our country lasts for 11 years. It consists of primary and secondary education.
Primary education starts at the age of seven and continues for four years. The primary-school timetable includes Russian, Maths, Reading ,Drawing, P.E. and Music. In some schools English, History or Computing are taught too. After four years of primary-school classes pupils go on to secondary school where they study different subjects: Russian, Literature, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English or other foreign languages, History, Geography, Biology and P.E, As a rule, pupils go to school five days a week. The school year begins in September and ends in May, The summer holidays are from June to September, After finishing the ninth form students must take four examinations. But to enter a university or a college they have to study for two more years and take five examinations on finishing the eleventh form.
Schools in Britain
England has got a very interesting system of education. There are some state schools in England. They are infant schools, junior schools and secondary schools. British boys and girls begin to go to school at the age of 5.They draw pictures,, sing songs, play games, listen to the stories and tales. Children leave infant schools when they are 7 years old. They begin to study at junior school. where they learn to write, to read and to do Maths. Boys and girls have got many interesting school subjects. They are History, English, Geography, Maths, Art, P.E., I.T., Cooking. Doys and girls study at junior school for 4 years. Then they have their examinations to the secondary schools. There are some types of secondary schools. They are: grammar schools, modern schools and comprehensive school. English boys and girls go to a secondary school from 11 till 16 years. There are some private schools in England. Boys and girls don’t study together at these schools and their parents pay much money for their education. The teachers at private schools pay personal attention to each pupil.
Pupils have got school uniform in England. A boy’s uniform consists of a special suit, a cap, a tie, and a blazer. A girl’s uniform consists of a hat, a coat, a skirt and a blouse. After finishing grammar schools pupils have got good knowledge and may continue their education in colleges and Universities.

Our school is neither old nor new.
In November it will be 20.
Our school is large and light. It is white and yellow. There is a school yard around my school where you can see a lot of trees and flowers. Behind the school you can see a sports ground, Sometimes we have P.E lessons there,
Our school has got 4 floors. On the ground floor there is a canteen where we have lunch and dinner. The classrooms for the primary school pupils are on the ground floor too. On the first floor there are computing classrooms where pupils have such school subject as computing, gymnasium, where we have our P.E lessons and an assembly hall, where we have our concerts and parties.
Our school has got a library. It is on the 2nd floorю There are many bookcases with books there. We have got English, History, Russian, Geography, Maths and other classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Our English classroom is on the 3rd floor. It is not big but light and comfortable. It has got 2 windows, 9 desks, 18 chairs, a teacher’s table, a green blackboard, a TV set, a musical centre and a lot of flowers.
The teachers’ room is on the second floor. It is comfortable and our teachers like to spend their free time there. There are many teachers in our school. These are our teachers. This is our teacher of Math… This is our teacher of Russian. This is …
They are very kind and know a lot. We love our school and our teachers.

An interview with the Head teacher of our school
Our school will be 20 this year. All these years Lyudmila Petrovna Yeravskaya has been the Head teacher of our school. We had an exclusive interview with her. These are the questions we asked her. (см. слайды).
Our school was built in1988. But it was opened only on the 14-th of November. That’s why we celebrate our school birthday on that day. At first it was a secondary school. But in 1989 it became an Aesthetic school. In 2005 our school became a Centre of Education. Our school specializes in art, drama and music. There are many good teachers in our school and about 15 teachers have been working in our school for 20 years already. Among them Lyudmila Petrovna Yervskaya the Head teacher of our school and a teacher of Russian and Literature, Olga Stanislavovna Borodina a teacher of Chemistry and others. Today there are 618 pupils in our school. Every year 3-6 our school leavers get gold or silver medals and we are proud of them. In the nearest future Lyudmila Petrovna dreams to have our school to be completely repaired. She wants our teachers to be as friendly and creative as they are now. She remembers her first teacher. Her name was Anfisa Yakovlevna. Her favourite subjects at school were Russian and Literature.
I would like to tell you a few words about our class. We are pupils of the 6- form. There are 27 pupils in our class: nine boys and eighteen girls. We are all good friends and we spend a lot of time together.
Our classes begin at half past eight, but we come to school fifteen or twenty minutes earlier, because we want to discuss our problems. After classes we often go for a walk together. We like to walk near our school. Very often our boys play football at our school sports ground and our girls always watch them. Sometimes we go to the theatre, cinema of different museums with our teacher.
Everybody in our class has a hobby. Our class specializes in drama. Some girls in our class have drama classes two days a week. Then they take part in different performances and we always like to go to these performances. And we often discuss our hobbies with our friends.
I must say that life in our class is very interesting and we love our school friends very much.

Schools in future
I think in future our school will change. It will become larger and more comfortable. We will have light classrooms with large windows and a lot of flowers in them. There will be carpets in the middle of each classroom. And we will have computers in every classroom. We will not have books, pens, pencils and exercise books. We will study with the help of computers.
I think that in future we will have a school zoo with a lot of different animals.
We will feed them and play with them after lessons.
I think we will have 3 swimming-pools in future. Everybody will be able to swim there.
Our canteen will change too. It will be large and light. We will have only tasty food there such as ice-cream, different fruit and vegetables, sweets and cakes.
We will have special rooms, where we will have a rest. There will be carpets, sofas, armchairs there.
