Russian 10 Finding Weather Reports in Russian Acquiring Information:
It is expected that students will:
• retrieve, process, and adapt information from Russian resources to complete meaningful tasks
• explain in detail, acquired information in oral, visual, and written forms
Students view or listen to an international weather report and identify today’s weather and the forecast for tomorrow in several Russian cities. Students write in Russian a comparative description of the weather in the three cities as compared to weather in Moscow.
Students return to the weather site(s) to record weather differences for a selected period of 6 weeks. Students keep printouts of these fluctuations.
Students use excel to create graphs that represent changes in the weather (temperature, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, humidity…) and use these charts in writing and verbally presenting changes in the weather that these cities experience over the prolonged time period. They make conclusions as to the types of weather experienced in different parts of the country.
